It’s difficult to know the significance of a moment in the moment, so when we do it’s transcendent, difficult to express, hard to convey, just deeply known. And it can be so enlightening to review the work we do, to return to the moments that passed quickly by, to think of the small blessings, the people, the smiles, the Spirit of God we somehow missed in the moment.
God help me see from many angles Not just my own point of view. Show me the human family Not just the people I already know. God, move me to compassion When work and worry lead me astray. And, teach me to be more loving In every kind of way.
When I awaken, May I face the dawn, Receive your grace, Revive my soul, And set out in faith and prayer. And, when I set out, May I let you lead me To where I need to be, To work you call me to do, To people, connections, and community. And, when the day is done, May I really retreat— Resting in your presence, Releasing my cares, Resigning myself to a deep and peaceful sleep. And, when I drift off to sleep, And my body heals, My mind processes, And my spirit dreams, May I surrender to that blessed moment. And when I awaken, Again and again, Moment by moment, Day by day, May I live a song of gratitude. O Generative Spirit, Giver of Life, Source of Connection, Divine Love, I offer my heartfelt thanks. Amen.
God of Transformation, bring healing into our lives. Bring doctors, bring counselors, bring the faithful, bring the teachers, bring the spiritual guides and the law makers, bring fresh new voices and wisdom from experience, bring souls who desire loving transformation, bring your beloved community together. God, bring healing into our lives, so we may see your work taking hold in this hurting world, and so that we may begin to see ourselves as people who together can further your healing love, your reconciliation, your peace, your truly transformative ways. Amen.
God, I pray for tomorrow’s conversations: The ones with loved ones, and the ones with people I’ve only just met. The ones I hold within myself, And the ones that need no words at all. O God, help me listen deeply For your voice in loved ones and strangers. And God, may I be so attuned To your Spirit’s sweet song within me. Amen.
Hear my prayer, O God, For those who feel unloved, For those who have lost a loved one, For those who’ve been betrayed by “love,” For those who think they’re unworthy of love, For those who have forgotten how to love, and For those who never knew how. I’m mindful of these people, God. O Lord, hear my prayer.
O Come, O Come Hope of our hearts, Love among people, Spirit in action, Peace in our world, Light in the darkness, Grace that restores, Peace in our souls, Healer Divine. O God who is all of these gifts, Who is God with us, Emmanuel, Help us to see, and to receive and to add To the flourishing of these precious gifts, So we may see transformation for the better And not forget your divine presence in this world. We pray in the name of the one who came to us, And the one for whom we wait. Amen.
