A snow that lingers into spring Leaves me longing for signs of life, Sends me searching for these signs In other forms, other places, And inspires my quest for a warmth that transcends seasonality.
Gracious God, We acknowledge that, at times, we have questioned our instinct to act in accordance with your justice, compassion, and love. Forgive us, God. And, renew our courage to act, So that we may help heal and transform the world Through your divine love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Gentle Spirit, source of inner peace, I rejoice in the moments when I sense your presence And feel a sense of calm. Even when my mind is so full of thoughts, Even when my days are so full of tasks, You whisper to me. You’re whispering in the words of friends, the kindness of another, the warmth of a community, and the creativity within me, In musical phrases, joyful celebrations, deep conversations, and moments of laughter. I hear your whispers in the tranquility of raindrops landing gently upon the ground. You draw me into the present moment, God, and oh, am I grateful. Amen.
God, help us be a loving people. Help us cherish the times when we’ve experienced love. Help us challenge the systems and actions that stand opposed to love. Help us form and foster communities that reflect your mission of love. God, help us be a loving people.
A Prayer after reading John 9 O God, who invites us to partake in our own healing, May we eagerly draw from the waters that restore our sight, So that we may know and show your restorative ways And point others in the direction of healing. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
The following prayer can be sung to this Irish tune Beauty of sunlight and hope in my soul, Show me the way to illumine the world. When days are dreary and trials set in, May I remember the hope that you give. Though I have stumbled and turned from your ways, You meet my faults with a gracious refrain. You guide me onward down more loving roads Where hope still blossoms and grace overflows. Hymn tune: SLANE (Be Thou My Vision)
Gracious God, in the course of our daily lives, we hear many different voices: work, family, and many other responsibilities call out to us. And, we let our noisy lives desensitize us to the sound of your call. Forgive us, we pray, for the times we were deaf to the sound of your voice in a stranger or friend. Forgive us, God, for the times we ignored the voice of the Spirit calling from within us. Forgive our failure to listen, Lord, and remind us to listen again. Help us hear with discerning ears, so we may respond in faith and love. Amen
God, I pray for tomorrow’s conversations: The ones with loved ones, and the ones with people I’ve only just met. The ones I hold within myself, And the ones that need no words at all. O God, help me listen deeply For your voice in loved ones and strangers. And God, may I be so attuned To your Spirit’s sweet song within me. Amen.
