Prayerful Thoughts Before Bed

O God, I’m tired. My body longs for rest, but my mind is full of thoughts vying for attention. Somehow, I do not think that quieting my thoughts makes sense right now, but I’m willing to let them drift into the thought-space of sleep. And I wonder if sleep is really the time when the brain gets to work and processes what we’ve observed? Does sleep really restore the human body so it serves as the repair shop for the stiffness or aches from the day? If sleep is so restorative, God, I must ask: what does sleep do for the soul?
